Kim Kardashian is at it again — this time with an app that’s already the top-grossing entertainment app on Apple’s
App Store within a day of its release.
The “Kimoji” iOS app launched Monday, giving users access to Kim-themed emojis, including Kardashian’s famous booty, a doughnut and lipstick.
Here’s what the emojis look like in action, as seen from a text exchange that was shared on Instagram between Kardashian and her mom, Kris Jenner.
The “Kimoji” app outranks her sister’s “Kylie Jenner Official App,” which is at No. 5. The two apps sandwich Netflix
Hulu and HBO Now in a ranking of the current highest-grossing entertainment apps.
It also ranks No. 11 on the current overall highest-grossing apps, behind favorites such as King Digital Entertainment’s
“Candy Crush,” Pandora
Kardashian is no stranger to the business world. One of her first business ventures was purchasing five pairs of Manolo Blahnik shoes for $750 each, which she later sold on eBay for $2,500. She is also behind the Glu Mobile app “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood,” a game that launched in June 2014. That game generated $74.3 million in 2014 — more than 30 percent of Glu’s revenue, according to VentureBeat.
The App Store overall generated over $10 billion in revenue for developers in 2014, and $25 billion overall.
Say what you will about her portrayal in the reality TV show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” but Kardashian says she’s a business person, really.
“I think that people sometimes see this persona on my TV show,” she said during an event at San Francisco’s prestigious Commonwealth Club in July. “It would be a boring show if they saw me going to meetings all day long.”
“I see so much that this is a generation of girls that are beautiful, but they don’t have a strong work ethic,” Kardashian said. “Put in the work.”
The app currently has two stars out of five, with 1,829 user ratings.
