More than half of U.S. millennials have a side hustle, according to a recent Bankrate study, but perhaps none of them are more fitting than the one YouTuber “Bearded Picker” featured in his DIY tutorial that’s gone viral this past week.
So this is how it works: The Bearded Picker buys “Monopoly for Millennials” board games (lots and lots of them) on the cheap at various WalMarts
in and around the Huntsville, Ala. area and sells them on Amazon
for almost triple the price. Simple.
Of course, demand for the latest version of Hasbro’s
Monopoly — with the tagline, “Forget real estate. You can’t afford it anyway” — has spiked in recent weeks amid backlash from millennials sick of the shade. Enough of the hipster, avocado toast and student debt jokes, already.

As for the Bearded Picker, he took advantage of all the buzz surrounding the game as well as a price disconnect. Basically, WalMart was selling them for $19.82 each, a nod to the year the first millennial was born, or so the legend has it. On Amazon, he was able to sell them with a fat margin for $60.
“It’s important to understand: It’s not the items, it’s the process,” he said. “I like the quick hits, the quick profit, the quick flip.”
Watch him explain in detail how he accomplished his “retail arbitrage” coup:
With almost a million views, it looks like the Bearded Picker’s side hustle documenting his side hustle will also earn him a few extra bucks.
