AK Steel to add $640 surcharge for electric, stainless steel

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — AK Steel
said Tuesday it will add a surcharge of $640 a ton to electrical steel products shipped in June. The surcharge applies to a broad range of stainless steel products that AK Steel manufactures. “AK Steel’s surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the April 2008 purchase cost used to determine the June 2008 surcharges,” said the company.
